Solange Márquez is a professor at the Law School of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). She holds a Ph.D. in Law with an Honorable Mention from UNAM and a Master of Laws degree from Osgoode Law School, York University. Her doctoral thesis was devoted to studying the crisis and future of parliamentary democracies.
Solange is a former VP of the Mexican Council on International Affairs (Comexi) and is currently its representative in Mexico. Since 2019 she has resided in Canada, where she was Director of the Mexico-Canada Alliance. She created and hosts the podcast Mexico in Focus and carries out projects to strengthen the bilateral relationship between Mexico and Canada.
She is a partner of Prospectiva, Consultoría Estratégica, which provides Public and Governmental Affairs services in Mexico and Freymar Consulting Corp in Canada. She has been a columnist for El Universal in Mexico for 15 years. She has also been a contributor as a specialist in international issues, political systems and democracy for various national and international media (BBC, Global News, Foro TV, Milenio radio, France 24, etc.).
She is a Mentor of the Climate Reality Project and a member of the Earth Journalist Network and the Environmental Communication Network of Latin America and the Caribbean; she was appointed Youth Spokesperson of the United Nations for the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). She was a member of the Advisory Group of the World Bank's Global Integrity Alliance (GIA). She has been invited to give courses and conferences in international forums and congresses on multiple occasions in Mexico and in countries such as Korea, Thailand, Spain, Taiwan, Germany, England, India, Albania, Morocco, the United States, Colombia, and Brazil, among others.
