The Canadian Global Affairs Institute hosted Dr. Kim Richard Nossal who discussed the threats and challenges which Canada must prepare for in the eventuality the Make America Great Again movement in the United States continues to grow and regains power. Under the twin stresses of a reinvigorated protectionist America First policy and reduction of active American global leadership, the West may fracture, leaving Canadians alone for the first time without a great power guarantor, and an increasingly insular and dysfunctional United States. How must Canada prepare for a more turbulent future with its most important international relationship?
