Kinder Morgan has set a May 31 deadline to remove the political uncertainty around the embattled expansion of its pipeline to the west coast, or the company may walk away.

Morneau and the Liberal government have offered to indemnify Kinder Morgan for losses caused by delays as the British Columbia government and some municipalities and First Nations in that province attempt to block the project.
