George Brookman, C.M. appointed to the Order of Canada

CALGARY – November 27, 2020 – The Canadian Global Affairs Institute (CGAI) is pleased to announce that long-time member of its Board of Directors, Mr. George Brookman, C.M. has been appointed to the Order of Canada. His appointment recognizes his commitment to local business initiatives, and his many contributions as a Calgary community leader.

Mr. Brookman is a stalwart of Calgary’s business and volunteer communities. He currently operates the Western Canadian Industries Group and serves on the boards of Obsidian Energy, the Calgary Flames Foundation, and the Calgary Stampede Foundation. Additionally, he has volunteered on the boards of a number of organizations including Tourism Alberta, the Downtown Calgary Rotary Club, and the Calgary Stampede. Mr. Brookman has also created his own charitable initiatives including the “Breakfast on the Bridge” fundraiser for the Military Family Resource Centre and “Transformation Calgary”, a group of business leaders dedicated to enhancing quality of life in Calgary.

The Canadian Global Affairs Institute has had the privilege of Mr. Brookman serving as a member of the CGAI’s Board of Directors for many years and looks forward to his continued invaluable guidance in the years to come.
