- Vice-Admiral (retired) Paul Maddison is Director of the UNSW Defence Research Institute. He served in the Canadian Armed Forces for 37 years, retiring as Commander of the Royal Canadian Navy. He also served as Canada’s High Commissioner to Australia from 2015 and 2019.
