In this 60-minute webinar moderated by CGAI Energy Security Forum Manager Joe Calnan, former Government of Alberta Deputy Minister of Environment and Protected Areas Kasha Piquette will join CGAI Fellows Eric Miller, Ellen Wald, and Rory Johnston to discuss the results of the 2024 Presidential and Congressional elections, what they could mean for U.S. energy policy, and possible impacts on Canada.

- Kasha Piquette is an independent strategic energy advisor and former Deputy Minister of Environment and Protected Areas, as well as former Associate Deputy Minister of the Sustainability, Emissions Reductions and Innovation Secretariat Executive Council at the Government of Alberta. Prior to joining the Government of Alberta, Kasha garnered over 20 years of international leadership experience in governance, finance, and capital markets with special interest in climate risk and investing. She has previously worked with Invest Alberta Corporation and has held key leadership positions within Canadian and international charter banks.
- Rory Johnston is a Toronto-based oil market researcher, the founder of Commodity Context, a lecturer at the University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy, as well as a Fellow with both the Canadian Global Affairs Institute and the Payne Institute for Public Policy at the Colorado School of Mines. He is a leading voice on oil market analysis, advising institutional investors, global policy makers, and corporate decision makers. His views are regularly quoted in major international media including the Financial Times, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg News, Reuters, BNN Bloomberg, CBC, and Financial Post, and he frequently appears on numerous market and industry podcasts.
- Ellen Wald is a CGAI Fellow, President of Transversal Consulting, and Co-Founder of Washington Ivy Advisors. She is the author of the book, "Saudi, Inc." about the history of Saudi Arabia's oil industry, and regularly to contributes to various other publications, including Bloomberg, the Hill and Barrons. She is also a Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Global Energy Center.
- Eric Miller is a CGAI Fellow and President of Rideau Potomac Strategy Group, a consultancy that advises private and public sector clients on trade, energy, and business matters. He works extensively on critical minerals essential to the energy transition and to national security. He has also written in depth on North American and international natural gas markets. He previously served as Vice President for North America and Cybersecurity at the Business Council of Canada, which represents the CEOs of the 150 largest companies in the country. Before joining the Council in 2013, Mr. Miller represented Canada’s Department of Industry at the Canadian Embassy in Washington, DC.
