Canada & the World Speaker Series:
Opportunities and Challenges for Western Canada

This is Canadian Global Affairs Institute’s Eighth annual four-part Speaker Series starting in October and extending into February 2017.  The Institute is pleased to welcome back ATB Corporate Financial Services as the 2016/17 Speaker Series Title Sponsor.

With the drop in the price of crude oil and the prospects for a short term turnaround diminished there is a need to look beyond fossil fuels to secure our economic future. This year’s series will take a different approach by addressing other sectors of the economy and certain geostrategic issues that should be understood.

The general concept will remain as in the past - four experts will speak to an invitation-only audience on their area of expertise. The “Chatham House Rule” (non attribution) will apply during the Question and Answer (Q&A) portion of the evening.

  • This invitation provides for couples or individuals to enjoy the opportunity of a thought-provoking discussion over a great meal at the Calgary Golf & Country Club.
  • Again this year, there will be limited opportunities for corporations to reserve tables of 10.
  • Each presentation will be approximately 40 minutes, followed by dinner.
  • Those in attendance will have an opportunity to engage with the speaker during a one hour Q&A session.
  • The reception will commence at 5:30 and the evening will end at 9:15 PM.
  • Business attire is requested.

  • Corporate tables of 10 for the series have been reduced 10% and are - $13,500. If a company wishes to be an evening sponsor this can be arranged.
  • Individual tickets for the four-part series are $1,350.
  • A tax deductible charitable receipt for the donation portion of the ticket price will be issued.
  • If you are unable to attend certain events, we will offer your donated ticket to graduate students at UofC.
